Cloquet, MN -
Northwoods Credit Union's Board of Directors approved a $10,000 donation to the Cloquet Salvation Army on Thursday, December 9th. Northwoods Credit Union will be presenting the donation to the Salvation Army at the Northwoods CU office, 1702 Avenue B, Cloquet, MN 55720 on Tuesday, December 14th at 4:00pm.
Every year, Nicole Behm, Mortgage Loan Officer with Northwoods Credit Union, takes charge of collecting employee donations for the Salvation Army's Adopt-A-Family program. When she called to let the Salvation Army know that the employees had raised $320 and that NCU would match that amount, Jackie with the Salvation Army was thrilled. She let Nicole know that the Salvation Army had to turn many families away this year because they were not receiving enough donations to keep up with the demand. The Salvation Army also contacted the Ellen Degeneres show in hopes that Ellen would also help. Nicole passed this information on to the Northwoods staff.
Paula Olsen, Vice President of Accounting, at Northwoods Credit Union, presented the NCU Board with the idea of donating $10,000 to the Salvation Army and the Board UNANIMOUSLY approved.
Northwoods Credit Union has been fortunate to remain strong despite the economic crisis many other businesses and individuals have faced the past few years. NCU credits their success with the strong support of their members and community. Because of this, NCU staff their Board of Directors thought it was important to support the community in a big way and thought best to do this through the Salvation Army donation.
Credit Union's have always taken a strong community stance. Credit Union's are not-for-profit and are governed by a Board of Directors, consisting of NCU members.
