Northwoods Credit Union Purchases Land on Stanley Avenue

Cloquet, Mn. –

Northwoods Credit Union has recently purchased land at 708 Stanley Avenue in Cloquet and plans to build a two story, 7,981 square foot building.  Northwoods Credit Union began looking into additional real estate because they have been growing steadily and has quickly outgrown our main office in Cloquet as well as our Branch Office in Carlton.  After looking at all of their options, they’ve decided to relocate their Carlton office to Stanley Avenue.  Barb Brown, President of Northwoods Credit Union said, “We have enjoyed our time in Carlton and we feel we will be able to better serve all our members at the new Stanley Avenue office.  We had a study done and found that Stanley Avenue is the best place for us to locate in order to continue growing our membership, better serve our current members and make the credit union more profitable.”  Northwoods Credit Union plans to keep their Carlton office open as long as possible during the Stanley Avenue construction phase and has no plans to close their main office at Avenue B.  The new office will be a full-service financial and will offer all the products and services as our main office.  They are still discussing future branch hours and would love to hear members’ input.  Barb will be hosting two President Lobby Days to discuss any questions our members may have regarding the building plans.  The first Lobby Day will be held Wednesday, February 8thin Cloquet from noon-3:00pm.  The second Lobby Day will be held in Carlton on Thursday, February 9thfrom noon-3:00pm.  Northwoods plans to break ground on the new site in May 2012.  The location is currently the home of Bearaboo Coffee.  Bearaboo will be moving just down the road, next to the car wash.  In 2010, Northwoods CU was granted a community charter by the State of MN and now serves those that live, work, attend school, worship or volunteer in Carlton County.  This month, Northwoods CU was granted another community charter by the State of MN to also serve Pine County.  If you have any questions, please feel free to direct your questions to Barb Brown, President of Northwoods Credit Union at 218-878-3939 or
