Introducing the Northwoods Credit Union Scholarship Program!
At Northwoods Credit Union, we believe in supporting our members as they take the next step in their education. That’s why we’re thrilled to introduce the Northwoods Credit Union Scholarship Program! This brand-new opportunity is designed to help our student members pursue their academic goals while staying connected to their local credit union.
Scholarship Details
- Award Amount: Two scholarships available, each worth up to $2,000
- Disbursement: $500 per year, renewable for up to four years
- Total Recipients: Two students selected annually
- Renewal Requirement: Must submit an unofficial transcript each year by June to scholarship@northwoodscu.org to receive the next year’s funds in August
How to Apply
- Begin the process and submit your application online
- Provide supporting documents, including:
- Unofficial transcript
- Letter of recommendation
- 60-second video essay
- Application Window: March 1, 2025 – April 11, 2025
- Winners Announced: May 6, 2025, at our Annual Meeting
Scholarship Eligibility Requirements
To apply, you must:
- Be a primary member of Northwoods Credit Union in good standing
- Have a minimum GPA of 2.5
- Be registered for at least 9 credits per semester at an accredited school
- Be either a graduating high school senior or a current college student enrolled for the upcoming fall semester
Video Essay Instructions
Applicants must submit a 60-second video essay answering: “Explain why you’re a Northwoods CU member and how you plan to take us to college with you!”
Important: Do not include your name in the video. Any submission with a name will be automatically disqualified.
Scholarship Selection Process
- Applications will be made anonymous and reviewed by our Donations Committee.
- The Committee will base their decision on:
- Eligibility requirements
- Video essay
- Letter of recommendation
- Extracurricular activities and community involvement
- Winners will be notified in May and announced at our Annual Meeting, on our website, social media, and in our newsletter.
Keep the Funds Coming
To continue receiving your $500 annual scholarship, submit the following each year by July 31:
- Unofficial transcript
- Proof of college enrollment for the upcoming year
- Documents must be sent to scholarship@northwoodscu.org
- Funds will be deposited into the recipient’s Northwoods CU account by August 31
